The 2023 edition of the Governor-General’s Achievement Awards (GGAA) is set to take place at King’s House, with Their Excellencies The Most Honourable Sir Patrick Allen, Governor-General, and the Most Honourable Lady Allen in attendance. The event is scheduled for June 29, 2023, at 10:00 AM and is eagerly anticipated by the nation.
Launched in 1991, the GGAA recognizes and celebrates extraordinary Jamaicans leading change within their communities. Despite the challenges they’ve faced, these individuals have excelled in areas of leadership and academics. The award provides a platform for these exceptional citizens to be acknowledged for their inspiring work and dedication.
This year’s recipients of the GGAA will be awarded by His Excellency The Governor-General and their respective Parish Custos during a ceremony at King’s House. In addition to the prestige of the award itself, each awardee will also receive a GGAA lapel pin, symbolizing their induction into a growing network of inspiring Jamaicans.
After a rigorous nomination and shortlisting process, successful nominees have been notified of their selection. These individuals, who have shown outstanding community service and excellent academic performance, will present themselves at King’s House an hour ahead of the ceremony for the prerecording of the awards presentation.
In the spirit of celebration, the ceremony will also feature performances from community and school talents across Jamaica, adding a vibrant layer of cultural expression to this prestigious event.
Following the ceremony, a reception will be held for the awardees and their guests. This gathering will provide an opportunity for the awardees to mingle, network and share their inspiring stories with each other, fostering a sense of community and shared achievement.
