48 IBI Ambassadors Inducted and Charged to “Stay L.I.T: Lead, Inspire and Transform.”
Kingston, Jamaica— A new wave of youth leadership was ushered in on December 12, 2024, as 48 exceptional young individuals were inducted as the latest, I Believe Initiative Ambassadors. The ceremony, held at the King’s House, was not just a celebration of achievement but a demonstration of the drive, passion, and vision that these young leaders bring to the table.
With an air of optimism and resolute commitment to creating change, these ambassadors stood before the peers and other guests, ready to take on the mantle of leadership. They represent a diverse range of backgrounds and skill sets, united in their mission to amplify the voices of Jamaica’s youth and tackle some of the nation’s most pressing challenges.
The selection process was no easy feat. Over 160 Jamaicans applied for the call to serve, each dedicated to the process of positively making an impact on their communities and their country. The 48 chosen were not only selected for their academic achievements but also for their ability to inspire and lead. Their incredible work in community service, advocacy, and social entrepreneurship has set them apart as individuals capable of sparking real change.
From organising environmental clean-ups to leading mental health awareness campaigns, these IBI Ambassadors have already proven their commitment to shaping a better future.
This year’s pinning and induction ceremony was indeed different, beginning with an empowerment session that had top industry leaders sharing insightful and motivating messages with the IBI Ambassadors, both new and current. The aim of the empowerment session was to edify the new Ambassadors about their roles and responsibilities and the importance of the work to be done with such an elevated national platform. The theme this year was:” Stay L.I.T.: This Is Who We Are.”. L.I.T. – Lead with Vision, Inspire through Service, and Transform Communities. The keynote address done by the Governor-General, His Excellency the Most Honourable, Sir Patrick Allen, summarized perfectly what staying L.I.T. should look like at the national level. His Excellency stated that “Leadership is not a title but a torch to light the way for others. Inspiration is not a performance; it is a promise to serve with integrity and heart, and Transformation is not a distant goal but is the sum of every decision you make.”
The induction of these 48 individuals marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Jamaica. With their energy, creativity, and drive, the IBI Ambassadors are ready to lead the charge in making Jamaica a better place for all. They represent the future of leadership in a nation that thrives on innovation, resilience, and hope.
They are the epitome of using what is right with Jamaica to fix what is wrong with Jamaica.
