The Governor-General’s Programme for Excellence (GGPE) is pleased to announce the I Believe Initiative’s 2nd educational partnership with Monroe College (New York) for the Bachelor in Computer Information Systems (CIS) Scholarship. The Scholarship covers full tuition for the duration of 4 years beginning August 2017 and is tenable at Monroe College’s New Rochelle Campus.
Eligible candidates must be a Jamaican national and a graduate of a Jamaican high school or college. Additionally, they should have a minimum of seven CXC or CSEC passes at grades one and two and at least three CAPE passes at grades one, two or three. A student pursuing an Associate Degree is also eligible to apply. Candidates should also possess a strong sense of volunteerism and demonstrate a willingness to contribute to Jamaica’s growth and development. The recipient will be required to fund the full cost for living and accommodation expenses for the duration of their study.
Qualified Jamaican students desirous of pursuing a career in Computer Information Systems and wanting to be considered for the scholarship, must apply to Monroe College by Friday, May 26, 2017 to be accepted. Applicants may apply online at www.monroecollege.edu. Along with the application candidates must submit their high school or college transcripts, CSEC/CXC/CAPE results and two letters of recommendation.
All candidates will be interviewed by a Monroe College Admissions Counselor. Upon acceptance, successful candidates will be required to participate in a scholarship selection interview conducted by the GGPE Secretariat. The successful candidate will be required to serve in Jamaica for a minimum of three (3) years following conferment of the Bachelor in Computer Information Systems degree.
