About the Conference
On the occasion of its 10th anniversary, the ‘I Believe’ Initiative (IBI), an arm of the Governor-General’s Programme for Excellence (GGPE), will host its Youth Consultative Conference (YCC) virtually. The YCC, this year, will proudly partner with the United Nations to address, the impact of COVID-19 on the implementation of Jamaica’s Vision 2030 while inspiring youth and duty bearers to support a recovery that builds a better Jamaica for all.
Young people’s rights and priorities span across all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); and ensuring appropriate and dedicated investments into youth development within the Vision 2030 and the SDG framework is crucial to the achievement of all goals and targets. Moreover, youth engagement in the implementation, follow-up, and review of the Vision 2030 Agenda is essential to the achievement of sustainable development.
The United Nations in Jamaica is the main partner of the 2021 Youth Consultative Conference; and together with The Governor-General’s Programme for Excellence will build on discussions by focusing on the role, rights, and priorities of young people in COVID-19 recovery efforts. The conference will encompass the overarching theme “A Decade of Action: Building a Resilient Recovery for and with Jamaica’s Youth.”
